My name is David Bonoma and I am running for judge of the 3rd Judicial Subcircuit of Cook County. I am a lifelong southsider and currently live in the St. Barnabas parish in Beverly where my wife, Mary Kay, and I raised four daughters. I have been an attorney in Chicago for more than 30 years. In addition to my broad experience handling all types of civil cases in the courtrooms of Cook County and the Federal District Court, I am especially proud of the years I spent as an Assistant State’s Attorney in Cook County where I served as Chief of Staff to State’s Attorney Dick Devine.
As Chief of Staff, I worked on a wide range of criminal issues, with a particular focus in the area of juvenile justice where I led our Office’s efforts to bring the principles of balanced and restorative justice to Illinois’ juvenile system. During those years I learned the importance of enforcing our laws and holding people accountable, but doing so with a sense of balance and compassion. That knowledge has stuck with me my entire career.
I am proud of the reputation I have earned as an honest, hard-working, and respected attorney over my 31-year legal career. I am honored to have been named as an “Illinois Super Lawyer” and a “Leading Lawyer” in Illinois by industry publications. If given the opportunity, I promise to bring that same commitment to fairness and integrity to the bench. I would appreciate your vote in support of my candidacy to fill the vacancy of Hon. Peter Flynn in the 3rd Judicial Subcircuit on March 17, 2020.
Thank you for your support,
